"The Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation"
Twenty-one world leaders would descend upon Honolulu, Hawaii on the Island of Oahu for the annual APEC summit. This year the United States would be hosting the summit, having last hosted it in 1993 at Wake Island, Seattle.
Four five days, leading up to the leader's meetings, I covered protests, arrivals, and Secretary Clinton for Agence France-Presse. When US President Barack Obama arrived I would be covering for the Independent Still Pool in the White House Travel Pool.
Saturday was probably the hardest day I've worked in my life as a still photojournalist: from a Presser, then running to another presser, to a conference, to three bilateral meetings, then to dinner with arrivals, and after dinner entertainment, the US Travel Pool (White House) was always on the move. If I was tired, I can't even begin to imagine how POTUS was feeling. Mahalo to Charlie Dharapak, Jim Watson, and Larry Downing for the advice and the help.
