The Warrior Games was created in 2010 as an introduction to Paralympic sports for injured service members and veterans, many of whom suffered life altering wounds, both visible and invisible, in combat.
The images shown here are from the 2013 Warrior Games.
What I can tell you as a photojournalist covering these games is that it made me feel small, like I was looking up to a mountain in awe for the first time. Then by the end of a week, I realized that they are simply men and women like anybody else, except they posses more courage and coolness than I could ever imagine.
I can only hope that I got a photo or two that did them any justice.
