For the fourth year in a row, I photographed the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan’s Wish-A-Mile bicycle tour. The WAM is a 300 mile trek from Traverse City to Chelsea. This year, there were 900 riders and over 100 volunteers. Together, they were able to raise more than $1.8 Million dollars to help grant wishes to children in the state of Michigan.
I photographed this year with another photographer, Bryan Mitchell, who also rides while he photographs. I enjoyed seeing the countless smiles on the faces of riders, even as they made it up what one called ‘the biggest hill I have ever seen in my life’.
There are too many volunteers, riders, and staff members to thank. This was the most memorable WAM of my four years, and I will be back next year.
