Part of the 11 Alive Can-A-Thon, students voted with donations of can and dollars for teachers to take part in the contest. The 10 teachers with the most votes were put in a pen with seven greased piglets. The three teachers who did not catch a piglet had to kiss one of the pigs. |

After nearly 7 years in the newspaper business, I left my position as a staff photographer at the Rome News-Tribune in Northwest Georgia in the summer of 2010 to stay home with my new baby and slowly convert the junk room into a studio office. Every day I watch my son grow and experience the world with the amazement and receptiveness of everything being new. It reminds me that we can still find wonder in the simple things in life, and it reminds me of when I first picked up a camera and discovered the world of photojournalism. I try to harness that feeling and attitude with everything I shoot - be it commercial work, documentary work for a newspaper or magazine, portraiture or a wedding.
