| Olivia Kachman's Message: |
As a 2006 graduate of NAIT's Photographic Technologies program, I have pursued photojournalism as my calling. My persistance and hard work was noticed and I was awarded the 2005 Student Portfolio of the Year from the Western Canadian News Photographer's Association. After completing a four-month internship with the Edmonton Journal, I was hired as the staff photographer for the Grande Prairie Daily Herald-Tribune where I supplied the the photography for this daily community newspaper located in northern Alberta, Canada. I have since left the Grande Prairie Daily Herald-Tribune to pursue a new media documentary on the human element of this boom-bust oil town and have been applying for grants for 2008. The project will include documentary photography, video installations, poetry and music with its main dissemination being a gallery setting. I am now a freelance photographer with my own business, Visual Cocktail: www.visualcocktail.ca
