Marcus Yam's Message: Hello!

I had fun 'snapping' pictures for a story about typewriters, coming back into popularity. It's so nice to be shooting in squares!

Bio
*****************
Marcus Yam is a curious photographer who is interested in visceral observations of everyday life. Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he is culturally and socially ambiguous thanks to an unusual upbringing. In 2006, he left behind a career in Aerospace Engineering and decided to live a photographic life.

He is interested in social issues that define the American experience; immigration, poverty, marginalization, provincialism, faith and citizenship.

Marcus is currently a regular contributor to The New York Times. Past work experience include organizations like The Washington Post, The Associated Press, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Buffalo News, The Roanoke Times, The Concord Monitor and The James Nachtwey Studio.

He holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and has completed his coursework for his M.A. in Photography with the School of Visual Communication, at Ohio University.

Marcus is currently based out of New York, NY and is available for assignments worldwide.
