It seems like the world has caught a protest fever. While the stuff happening stateside isn't as intense as what is going on overseas, the local protests in Wisconsin and here in Illinois are gaining steam.
Folks in Wisconsin are protesting a proposed bill by Gov. Scott Walker that would eliminate collective bargaining rights for most public employees.
Here in Rockford, Ill., people are mad that the public school system is looking to cut $50 million in the budget by closing schools, canceling programs and outsourcing athletics (on top of other things).

My name is Max Gersh and I am a multimedia photojournalist. I have been studying and practicing journalism and photography for over a decade.
I graduated from Webster University in 2008 with a B.A. in photography, spending one semester abroad in Shanghai, China.
My images have been published across the Midwest in many newspapers, including The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Kansas City Star and The Chicago Sun-Times.
On top of my work in the journalism industry, I participated in the design and construction of Web sites for one of St. Louis' leading interactive advertising agencies, working on projects for clients like Nestle Purina.
Currently, I am a staff photographer at The Rockford Register Star in Rockford, Illinois.
