I recently had the privilege to photograph a few assignments for The Washington Post. The first couple of shoots related to joblessness amid African Americans in Milwaukee, Wis. At 22 percent, Milwaukee’s unemployment rate among African Americans is higher than any other state. One out of every two black men in Milwaukee is not working.
The second assignment was to spend a little time with Congressman Paul Ryan in his hometown, Janesville, Wis.
Large or small, I’m grateful for every assignment that comes my way.
Within the past year, I’ve also launched my new Web site and blog.

I am a freelance photographer based in Milwaukee, Wis. Upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in May 2004, I worked for The Portage Daily Register, located in Portage, Wis. I then accepted a job with The Villages Daily Sun, a 40,000-circulation daily located just north of Orlando, Fla. I worked in Florida for two years before accepting a job with CNI Newspapers, Milwaukee, Wis. I was one of six photographers for CNI through May 2009.
I am currently freelancing for various publications throughout the Milwaukee area, including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Waukesha Freeman and CNI.
