For the fourth year in a row, I had the pleasure of shooting the ICU and USASF/IASF Cheer and Dance World Competition at Wide World of Sports in Disney. Over 70 countries are represented across the globe in this four day spectacular.
As always, this is a blast to shoot. Besides being given the honor and privilege of shooting these world class athletes, I get an opportunity to spend time with some of the best cheer and dance photographers in the business today.
I must admit that I found myself liking my dance shots better than my cheer shots this year. Cheer is great, but the BGs are a little rough and the backlighting can reek havoc with the focus and noise. I also gained a new found respect for pom teams. Pom is killer to watch and photograph at this level mainly because there is such incredible beauty in the symmetry, precision, and timing.
I'm hoping these photos will illustrate these skills. Hope you enjoy...
