For 2012-2013, Samaruddin will be a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University researching journalism innovation.
Samaruddin Stewart has worked in US journalism, media communications, and emerging technology for more than a decade, along the way working for leading newspapers, international wire services, and managing staffs of editors at one of the top news websites in the world. Along his career he has had the opportunity to cover everything from presidential inaugurations to natural disasters and has traveled to over 60 countries on 6 continents.
Samaruddin is an active member of several journalism associations and has presented and lectured for several institutions, including: the Society of Professional Journalists, the European Journalism Institute, the National Press Photographers Association, the Online News Association, and the Center for International Media Ethics. Samaruddin has also judged several journalism competitions, including: the Sigma Delta Chi Awards, The Best of the West, Photo District News' Photo Annual and Magyar Sajtófotó.
Samaruddin holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism (Arizona State University), a Master's degree Mass Communication (Arizona State University), and an M.B.A (Central European University).
