| Kathleen Hinkel's Message: |
I spent the majority of last week photographing the late October surf in Tofino, British Columbia. The O'Neill Coldwater Classic Canada was taking place there and Tofino delivered on its promise of blustery conditions for world class surfers.
While the competition was tough with big name surfers like Cory Lopez and Dusty Payne competing in the event; the big $$$ ended up in the lap of Tofino local surfer Peter DeVries, a surfer who rarely competes but was able to use home surf advantage to his advantage and dominate throughout the competition.
The sunny days delivered freezing wind and the rainy days, while significantly warmer, dumped water all over my photography gear.
