Just got back from the 8-man football championships this weekend in Newton, Kan.
8-man is a different brand of football played by schools in rural areas too small to field a team of 11. The field is shorter at 80 yards and also narrower. Teams rarely kick field goals or extra points. This is primarily a running game, and a damn big deal for your team and your town when you win the state championship.
