On Friday, April 30th the Oregon National Guard 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team returned home to Oregon after a 10 month deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The H.G. Maison Armory in Tigard, Oregon was filled with family, friends, fellow Guard members and emotion as a decommissioning ceremony was held in their honor, with Oregon Ted Kulongoski on hand to thank the troops for their service to their country. This was my first time covering such an event. It was not an assignment; it was an honor.
