I'm very happy to say that I've got a new camera. After five years with my Nikon D1x I recently picked up a brand spanking new Nikon D300 and so far I am just blown away by what I'm seeing. Ceck out the ISO 1600 shot that's #10 in my gallery.
Several of the other photos were taken at the Rafiki's Journey Fundraising Bash that took place on Thursday, May 8th. It was a great event that everyone who was there wished didn't have to take place. Rafiki is the son of my very good friend and Longmont Times-Call photographer Jill P. Mott. Rafiki was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on March 19, just a few weeks shy of his 2nd birthday. His prognosis is very good with an 80-90% chance of a full recovery but it's a long road and three years of chemotherapy before we get there. While it is not a full-time job, I am also doing my own photography on the side. I can handle portraits and commercial work though recently I've been concentrating on sports photography, particularly soccer.
