In brief summary, here's my professional profile: I have worked at numerous U.S. newspaper photo staffs and wire services since 1991 but I've been the Seattle-based contract photographer for Reuters News Service (Thomson Reuters) since 1997, ZUMA Press since 2010 and now, am also the founder/owner of my the small but elite Seattle-based photo agency, THE IMAGE ARSENAL.
I cover general assignments throughout the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii. Seattle's diverse news and Pro Sports assignment beats have me covering Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks or Amazon.com during the day and then the Mariners (MLB), Seahawks (NFL), Sounders FC (MLS) or University of Washington Athletics (NCAA) at night and on weekends. I thrive on breaking hard news like protest-riots and forest fires and for my sanity, I rockclimb in Washington, surf at home in Hawaii or ride my BMW bike through the Cascade Mountains whenever I can get away from work. Extreme sports are my "enjoyment" photography.
Recent photojournalism assignments include SXSW-Austin Music Festival (March 2010), the Amgen Tour of California UCI pro-bicycle multistage race (May 2010), covering U.S President Obama's visits to Seattle and Honolulu (2010-2011) and the MLB-Mariners, NFL-Seahawks, WNBA-Storm and MLS-Sounders FC regular and playoff seasons.
When not shooting pix, I am also a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel/CH-47D Chinook helicopter pilot in the Washington Army National Guard. At right are a hodge-podge of some recent work, but obviously not my prime portfolio. They are just pix I happened to have on my laptop at the moment.
