Civil unrest has gripped FUllerton, CA, since the tragic and police-related death of Kelly Thomas, a 37-year-old mentally ill homeless man. Murder charges have been filed against one police officer and involuntary manslaughter agains another.
Four other officers at the July 5 incident have not been charged and are still on active duty, sparking outrage in the community.
As a result, three city council members are facing a recall petition, and some downtown businesses say they have lost customers because they are afraid to shop in Fullerton.
For others, Fullerton remains the 'big town with a small town feel.'
