I've been following the California Condor for a couple of years now, venturing down the coast to Big Sur every few weekends.
The largest bird in North America, you'd never guess how susceptible they are to man, man's lead ammunition and pesticides,
They are one of the most endangered creatures in North America, coming extremely close to total extinction a few years ago, and still very close, even today.
Today I got treated to the most awesome display of condor meets mother nature that I've ever seen, with quite a few birds floating around me for over an hour.
Part of the fun of following these birds is their environment. I ride my Ducati down there and hope for the best - I'm guessing around 60% of the time I'm down there I at least see a bird, even if it's off in the distance.
A great ride combined with lots of birds, in close, totally amazing. Totally!
I'm working with the Ventana Wildlife Society (the folks that oversea the well being of the Big Sur flock) to sell prints to make money for the folks that are trying to ensure this magnificent bird survives.
