The former home of the Trail Blazers, Portland's Memorial Coliseum was recently slated for demolition to make way for a new AAA baseball stadium (part of the deal to bring Major League Soccer to Portland). The plan was scrapped in the face of vocal opposition from architects, veterans and others. But the facility is in need of repair, and operates near the break-even point. The city is searching for a plan that would revitalize the Rose Quarter, potentially including the re-purposing of the building.
