Image © Matt Roth/for the New York Times || Dr. Steven Farber Ph.D., seen reflected in a zebra fish tank, is an embryologist at The Carnegie Institution located in Baltimore, Maryland at the Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus. While in his "day job" he uses zebra fish to study human conditions such as cancer and metabolism issues, he also uses the small fish to increase area students' interest in science. Typically these students come from poorer neighborhoods.

Matt Roth's Message: Here are some recent photos. Half of them are not work related. When I shoot my friends and family it seems like I shoot better on assignment, too. It's like practicing my photo skills, without worrying if the editors will like it or not.
