| Juan Villa's Message: |
Fresno State University captured its first national championship in baseball after defeating Georgia 6-1 in Game 3 of the College World Series on Wednesday.
The team was welcomed home on Thursday with a celebration down Barstow Avenue to Pete Beiden Field where thousands of fans waited for the team.
It's the first national championship for Fresno State in a men's sport and the only one since I arrived at school. The last national championship was in 1998 when the softball team defeated Arizona 1-0.
What an awesome week.

I am currently a senior studying journalism at Fresno St. University. I’ve been shooting sports since I began college in the Fall of 2003. Three years now and I’m as excited as ever to be studying journalism.
In August of 2004, a year after I began taking pictures, I started doing freelance work for the Visalia Times-Delta. This has been very fun and helpful. I’ve learned a lot about shooting for a newspaper in the time I‘ve been there. The paper has four staffers, Steve Fujimoto, Johanna Vossler, Ron Holman and Teresa Douglass. All four of them have been great. A special thanks to Ron for sponsoring me and Gary Kazanjian for teaching me a ton.
