What you get for $25 per year...
If you are a photojournalist, a working photographer who shoots sports, a photo editor, an assistant looking for work, or a student looking for an internship - this is a community for (and about) you.
"The Guide" This is a very useful database containing information (phone numbers, email addresses, directions, etc.) about stadiums, arenas, race tracks, golf courses, restaurants, bars, colleges, professional teams (baseball, basketball, football, hockey and socccer), newspapers, wire services, etc., in cities across the USA and Canada. Built by photographers for photographers, this is one of the most useful tools available on the internet for working sports photographers.
Equipment Q&A Thanks to this special tool, you can get quick answers to very specific equipment-related questions without spamming the entire world to do it. Your question goes only to those members who actually know something about the item in question.
Get found with your own member page Each member has their very own "Member Page" that contains information about themselves, can contain up to 10 portfolio images, their favorite web links, a personal biography, and more. If you are a freelance sports photographer, an assistant looking for work, a student looking for an internship - this area of the site will help others find you quickly and easily.
Posting comments In various areas of the site (including "The Guide" and the Equipment Profile areas) members have the ability to share their opinions and personal perspectives. Comments can range from hardware and software to where to eat (and where not to eat) when you are out of town. As a trusted member of SportsShooter.com, your comments are valuable to everyone.
Posting Classified Items Selling gear and listing a job opening are functions of our classified section, which, you guessed it, is only open to members. Although the whole world can see the classified items that have been posted, only members can actually post them.
Post Messages Sure, it's fun to read all those messages in the SportsShooter.com message board, but it's even MORE FUN to participate! Only members can do that. You just haven't lived until you've created your own thread. It will change you life for the better - no psychic hotline needed!
Contests The SportsShooter.com monthly 'Clip Contest' is open and available to members. It is a great opportunity to submit your best work each month, and, because the members are also the judges, you get to look through all of the submissions for each month. This means that the judging panel is made up of hundreds of respected members - not just a few people.
Hidden Portfolios SportsShooter.com members have the ability to create hidden portfolios / image galleries - perfect for showing an editor, or a potential client, a body of work without letting the rest of the world see it. This product also enables you to create simple HTML galleries that you can easily download to your hard drive - so you can show of your work without a connection to the internet, and without knowing any HTML.
Vote! Members can (and should!) vote in our regular polls. With topics ranging from all aspects of the photography, journalism, and sports business - you'll be able to participate in the voting action instead of just watching it.
More 'Currently Cools' Members have the ability to see the previous 3 'Currently Cool' items that have appeared on the site's front page. Non-members can only see the one that appears on the front page during their visit.
