"The Search for Christopher"     [index] Next ->>
Christopher Michael Barrios Jr. went missing around 6:30 p.m. March 8, 2007 from the Canal Mobile Home Park in Brunswick where he lived with his father Mike Barrios. For seven days local police, along with family and hundreds of community volunteers and trained searchers from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, spent countless hours searching for the six-year-old boy. The communities hopes and prayers of finding the kindergartner alive ended when Glynn County Police announced his body had been found in a trash bag on the side of the road three miles away from his home on March 15. Three members of the Edenfield family, who also lived in the mobile home park, were arrested early in the search after convicted sex offender George Edenfield told police he had killed the boy. George's parents David and Peggy Edenfield along with family friend Donald Dale spent two days leading police on a wild goose chase before the body was found. All three Edenfields have been charged with aggravated chile molestation and murder and could face the death penalty if convicted. Dale has been charged with obstruction of justice and concealing the death of another.
