"Patriot Guard Escorts Gabriel"     [index] <<- Previous Next ->>
Escorting Gabriel 2 Copyright Jim Urquhart - Patriot Guard Rider Greg Knox prepares a flag before he takes part in an escort of a hearse from Evans-Early Mortuary in Salt Lake City in the pre-dawn hours. Approximately 50 riders turned out to escort the remains of Gabriel deMoors (cq) to the Salt Lake City International Airport for a flight to Atlanta. Gabriel passed away due to SIDS in 1994 at the age of two months and was buried in Utah. His father, 1st Lt. Joseph D. deMoors, 36, of Jefferson, Alabama, was assigned to the Army's 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo, and was killed in Iraq in January 2006. He was buried at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Alabama. One of last wishes was that his son be buried next to him. After the flight, members of the Patriot Guard on the east coast escorted Gabriel to the cemetery in Alabama to be laid to rest next to his father. 8/4/06 Jim Urquhart/Salt Lake Tribune
