Florentina Sipenuk (left) consults with public health dietician, Jane Ernst of the county WIC office. The Micronesians diet is drastically different in the United States. The family was raised on tree crops such as breadfruit, banana, and coconut, and root crops like taro. Fish also figured prominently in the islanders' diet. The WIC office is helping the Sipenuk families in making the transition to American food.
