Canon - EF 300mm f2.8L IS USM
Quick Overview |
Telephoto lens newly equipped with an Image Stabilizer enabling hand-held shooting for easier movement. The fluorite element and two UD-glass elements effectively correct the chromatic aberrations prone to occur with telephoto lenses. With the EOS-1v and EOS-3, the AF speed becomes the world’s fastest. To reduce the overall weight and enhance portability, the lens barrel and many other exterior parts use magnesium-alloy. Also, the detachable tripod collar revolves smoothly and locks securely.

Comments | [10/09/10] Great build quality, great image quality. It's fast, it's not to heavy. Compared to the 400mm it's much lighter. Tripod collar is a minor, also the hood conversion (Will aks my mom to solve that :D) But this is my favorite at the moment

Comments | [12/30/06] Before I made my purchase of the 300mm f/2.8 I was using a 300 f/4.0 with great results. But for shooting night football games in dark lit stadiums the 300mm f/2.0 is AWESOME! and the auto focus is excellent also. I have used it with a 1.4 extender and my images were still tack sharp.

Comments | [09/22/06] FABULOUS FOR THE COST! This lens gives me way more reach than my 70-200 and works well with a 1.4 extender. The 2.o extender fringes around the outside unless you are shooting in FULL sunlight. The lens reacts pretty quickly to focus points and fits ok under an aquatech rain cover though it is tough to use if the camera is positioned vertically under the rain coat. Overall it has helped me and I look forward to buying a 400 in the near future....

Comments | [12/21/05] Thanks for adding this guys! This is my favorite do all lens. Great for Friday night Football games, Volleyball, basketball (with a second body) and many other sports. Absolutely a must have for sports photographers, right behind the 400 2.8. And for me the IS is a god send, due too I'm not ususally shooting in the best lighting conditions.
