Comments | [03/28/04] I have an 8650 which is a bit older and slower, but with the same imaging engine (as far as I know) The physical process of printing a page takes about 75 seconds, but the RIPing of the image frequently takes more then that. Pages are $2-3 per print, which isn't bad. My printer has a photoshop export module that allows raster printing from within photoshop, as well as some advanced functions not available with the windows driver. You can also connect to the printer using the windows PS drivers from any program. The prints themselves are robust, can take a spill, and are indistinguishable from a conventional photographic print. Plus the paper has a nifty Kodak watermark on the backside, which can be a selling point. Ribbons are available in 3 color, 3+ UV Xtralife) 4 color (CMYK) and Black. All and all I love this thing it is an amazing output device, good for printing portfolio work for myself as well as quick turnaround work for clients. The only drawback is the 8x12 Max print size (on the 8650), but considering the price of the printer, this is not to bad a limitation.
