Notes | The Eddie Adams Workshop is a tuition free event that takes place in Jeffersonville, NY, about a 2.5 hour drive from New York City. Once you are accepted, you are responsible for travel expenses, and a flat fee for room and board at the Workshop.

During the four-day workshop, attendees will get to work intimately with some of the best photojournalists in the field today, as well as other photo-industry experts, including photo editors, producers and experienced Nikon technical representatives.

There are 150 industry professionals at the Workshop, many of whom are picture editors and photography directors of national publications such as Time, Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and People. Comments | [10/22/08] Truly inspiring to say the least. It’s hard to find the combination of words to describe what I am feel after this workshop: Happiness. Sadness. Overwhelmed. Sensory stimulation. Sleep deprivation. Passion. Excitement. Fun. Inspiring. Unforgettable. This is a must attend workshop.

Comments | [12/17/07] Truly wonderful experience!!!Be open and wear your thickest skin and most importantly listen. Oh yeah, don't cut people at the portfolio reviews either, it's not nice and you will get bad photo Karma.

Comments | [08/09/06] This was (and is) a life-changing experience for me. Between meeting people I idolize, shooting a ton, getting my portfolio torn apart, and making great friends, I didn't sleep much, but it's definitely worth it.

Comments | [03/31/06] The workshop was a great opportunity to learn from the industry leaders in a unique setting. There is no other workshop like it. A perfect mix of presentations, hands on shooting and one-on-one portfolio critiques.

Comments | [02/14/05] In - freaking - credible workshop. My only regret is that I cannot go back to the 11:30 club with the portfolio I have now because my shooting has moved to a different level since I returned from Jeffersonville. You will meet amazing peers, amazing mentors, and amazing people the entire time. How often can you sit down with some of the most important people in photojournalism and have them say "This does nothing for me" I tell you what, not very often heh.

Comments | [12/05/04] I attended this years workshop XVII. All I can say is if you're going to be a photojournalist, being apart of this experience is a must. After four 22 hour days and the dust settled my life4 changed for the best. Mallams

Comments | [02/11/04] I attended Eddie Adams Barnstorm XV in 2002. I believe we were the first EAW group to put out a book. I came out this in October of 2003 and it was called "NY Life Going On." Basically we photographed NY City on the one year anniversary of Sept 11, during a 24 hour period. I was a part of Bill Frakes and Jimmy Colton's team, both of Sports Illustrated, and I tell ya what I got my ass kicked; quickly found out what it was like to be a big fish in a small pond. The workshop was absolutely amazing none the less.

Comments | [01/07/04] Like Brad, I attended the 2nd EAW back in 1989 along with Angel Valentine, mi amigo en Miami... It changed my life... Before I showed up there, I wanted to just work hard to be able to keep moving up the food chain of the newspaper biz... After coming back, all I did was figure out how to get the Hell out as fast as I could. With a lot of help from people like Marcel Saba, Peter Read Miller, Jeff Weig, Heinz Kleutmier, Tom Lynn, etc... I did so in 1992. I can honestly say that EAW is the single most important workshop I've ever attended as a shooter.

Comments | [01/07/04] I was fortunate, and still feel that way, to attend the first Eddie Workshop. I was scared, excited, and slept very little on four days that I will never forget. Cheers to all the volunteers who make it possible!!

Comments | [11/25/03] I attended Barnstorm XVI in 2003 and it was quite possibly the most exciting, intense, and unforgettable weekend of my entire existance, thus far at least! Amazing amounts of information, excellent photography, and inspiration from top professionals abound--definatey try to get in, because it'll be a weekend you won't easily forget! Some tips: 1) if possible, drive there, having a car is very helpful 2) bring a hardcopy portfolio or a laptop if your portfolio is on CD 3) be patient & expect little sleep because the 11:30 club lasts a long time 4) learn to love Goya!

Comments | [05/04/03] I attended lucky 13 with a full moon on a friday. It was like the workshop awakened a side of shooting I knew I had but didn't reallize until it was all over. Definitly apply and you still get three years after graduation to apply. Go for it.

Comments | [10/04/02] I attended last year's workshop ... what an experience. I laughed and cried alongside 99 other student photographers as we soaked in over a thousand photographs and stories. It was such an honor to actually meet and have my portfolio critiqued by people I admire and look up to. It was a very humbling and satisfying experience. The people that volunteer their time to be there really care about giving back and helping out the students. I highly recommend attending this workshop. Keep applying until you are excepted. Good Luck!

Comments | [10/03/02] I was fortunate to attend the 2nd Workshop way back in September of 1989 when I was just out of college. This is the workshop you want to strive to be accepted to if you are a student or a working pro just out of college. Put together a GREAT portfolio and take a shot. If you don't get in the first time try again the following year. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you don't want to miss.

Comments | [10/03/02] This is certainly a good workshop to attend. I was a student at the 6th workshop, it was worthwhile. The faculty is top notch. Everyone, even the 'Black Team' are excellent photographers and you can learn a lot. Eddie's 'Farm' is also an extremely cool place, and in the Fall, when the workshop is held, it is absolutely beautiful there. Submit your porftolio and get accepted. You will be happy you did.
