Lightning near NIU
Lightning strikes near the Holmes Student Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University on June 20, 2006. It was a fairly bright afternoon despite the thunderstorm, so at ISO100 I was only able to get 1/4 second exposures at f22. In a series of about 600 near-constant individual exposures, this is the only one where I got a decent lightning bolt. This is a fairly tight crop of a wide shot so I'm not thrilled with the image quality, but this image is what inspired me to build a lightning trigger.
