First Place: "Super-State Softball Captain"
Francis Gardler/Lincoln Journal Star | It's no secret what Lincoln Southwest's Emma Kauf can do with a bat in her hands. She crushes softballs. She hit 59 career homers, 57 of them coming over her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. But what's equally impressive, in the eyes of her coach and peers, is Kauf's self-discipline. It's that combination of physical and mental skills that led to a monster senior season for Kauf, the Journal Star's 2018 Super-State honorary captain. Kauf finished her prep career with state career records in homers, runs (236) and RBIs (214). Her career average of .535 is a Class A record. Copyright: Lincoln Journal Star
