Intro
Three years ago, after a lifetime of horseback riding, Lillian Eckwall, 60, had to sell her beloved Arabian, Amanda. Worsening arthritis in Lillian’s right knee had finally made riding too difficult and too painful. On March 20, 2006, Lillian had her natural knee replaced with a metal prosthetic. She took her first steps on the new knee within hours of surgery and spent only three nights at the surgery center before returning home.
