Lane County at 150 Found by a logger near Vida in 1960, a hemlock tree two centuries old bears witness to the past when, in the spring of 1867, a young man named Silas R. Condra paused with a practiced hand to memorialize his family's brief Oregon history. Fourteen years earlier, Silas and his family arrived by way of the Oregon Trail. He was eight years old.
