Lane County at 150
Illuminated by flashlight, the remains of John Templeton Craig's pioneer wagon road stands as a testament to the fortitude of westward pioneers. Craig chipped the road through the lava beds of McKenzie Pass in the 1860's-- the first toll road into Lane County Oregon. Craig later died on the route in 1877 trying to deliver mail in a December snowstorm on the 5,000 pass.
