“I tell my mom that I’m going to eat and she’s not going to do drugs, and then she goes and messes up,” says Tabitha as both mother and daughter struggle with compulsions the other doesn’t understand. Peggy asks Tabitha to accept her the way she is. “Then accept me as an anorexic,” Tabitha counters. Despite living much of her life around drugs, Tabitha says she is fearful of them. “I’ve seen what they can do to a family.”
