Tabitha and her grandmother are evicted from their Springfield rental on Easter Sunday, and Tabitha cries as she scrambles to find a place to store their belongings. “My grandma needs help, and I can’t help her,” she sobs. Tabitha finally secures a storage shed by pawning stereo equipment. Unable to find affordable housing, the pair face the prospect of being homeless. For the next 10 days, they bounce around shelters, living hand-to-mouth until they find a small apartment they can afford. “Other people are worse off than we are,” Antoinette says. “God has a plan for us.”
