Marcell Cabrera checks his hair in a hand-held mirror while getting it cut by barber Dwayne Henderson in the front window of John's Barber Shop. The shop has been part of the scenery on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. since it was built 37 years ago by John Green and his wife, Willie Mae Green, who was nine months pregnant with their daughter Regina Crosdale when they started building it. Regina has been working there since she was 18, and now runs the shop.
