Velestine Gordon, 28, sings along with the congregation at a fundraiser for the Northside Church of God Agape Ministry on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Gordon, who grew up in Gifford and now lives in Sebastian says "the street itself shows improvement since I can remember, but things aren't up to par. I think it's the mentality of the people that determines how Gifford looks. Some people are comfortable with nothing. If you grew up like that, that's all you know and there's no push to strive for better," says Gordon. She emphasizes "there's more world, there's more life. You have to remember where you came from and when you become successful, you have to bring your experience back to the community."
