Matt and his brother, Jesse Guthrie, 20, who are not residents of the barrier Island, were going to try to paddle across the river to get to the ocean to surf. "We're not trying to loot or anything, we just want to catch some waves. It's not every day you get to catch hurricane waves," said Matt.
