Two Months Later, Another Standoff: Two Redbud Woods protestors lie chained to a tree on July 15, 2005 after the university decided to go forth with its plans to cut down the woods for the parking lot. Both of the protestors declined to be identified calling themselves, "John Doe #2," left, an Ithaca College student, and "John Doe #1," an Ithaca resident. John Doe #1 said, "I feel really tied to these woods and really believe they are alive. To see them be cut would be like seeing a friend die." They were later identified as Ryan Mauk, left, and Julian Drix.
